We are sad to announce that the following people have stepped down from their roles within Team Northumberland
Professor Sir Alan Craft – Chair of the Board of Trustees
Sir Nigel Sherlock – Vice President
Rio Groves – County Youth Lead
Oliver Scott – Digital Team Lead
Professor Sir Alan Craft has led the Board of Trustees in Northumberland since 2015. Alan has also held the prestigious role of UK Scouts Chairman where he was the very first external chairman. Alan served as chairman of the national board of trustees from 2009 until 2015 when he became chair of Northumberland Scouts. During his time with Northumberland Scouts, Alan has led the movement through exceptional change and growth with membership numbers rising during his 9-year stint as chairman.
Northumberland Scouts are delighted that Professor Sir Alan Craft is staying as their County President.
Sir Nigel has been involved with Northumberland for over 50 years. Sir Nigel has been a past District Commissioner, County Chairman, County President and since April 2012, one of our Vice Presidents. Sir Nigel has decided it’s now time to step down and we thank him for his massive contribution to Scouting in Northumberland.
Rio Groves will be stepping down today as County Youth Lead and thank her for all her support and friendship during her time in the role. Rio has been in the role for the past 3 ½ years. I am pleased that Rio is staying in Scouting supporting the Beaver Colony in Alnmouth. Thank you Rio for all that you have done.
Oliver has been our Co Digital SAS manager since March 2020. Oliver has done a great job with the digital team implementing our digital strategy. During the past few years he has supported us with websites for the County, Districts and Groups, support events and provided IT skills. Oliver is continuing as a member of the 7th Tynemouth.
We would like to thank Alan, Nigel, Rio and Oliver for all of their hard work during their appointments and wish them all the very best of luck for the future.
